Scott Sheffield (Featured Speaker):

With more than 40 years of energy experience, Scott Sheffield is widely recognized as an industry thought leader and an expert on oil and natural gas exploration and production. Mr. Sheffield served as the President and CEO of Pioneer Natural Resources Company, the second-largest crude oil producer in Texas, and director of The Williams Companies, a provider of natural gas infrastructure.

Mr. Sheffield has played significant roles in the American shale revolution and in lifting the U.S. crude oil export ban. Earlier in his career, Mr. Sheffield served as CEO of Parker & Parsley Petroleum Co. in Midland, Texas, leading its 1997 merger with MESA, Inc. to form Pioneer Natural Resources. Jim Rogers (Moderator):

Jim Rogers represents Petrie Partners and will serve as moderator for the session. A close friend and colleague of Scott Sheffield, Jim brings extensive energy investment banking and advisory experience to lead an engaging, candid discussion.

Prior to joining Petrie Partners in 2019, James C.V. Rogers (Jim) led the Houston office for Greenhill & Co. Jim also led the US Energy Investment Banking business for TD Securities and the North American Energy Investment Banking business for Deutsche Bank Securities, in each case with a focus on Large Cap producers and Major Oils. Jim started his investment banking career in 1989 in New York with Salomon Brothers, Inc. where he focused on broader global energy clients and ultimately became more specialized as an Upstream Oil & Gas Investment Banker.

Jim has completed in excess of 150 mergers, corporate sales, special committee assignments, divestitures, recapitalizations, initial public offerings and strategic capital raises. A recent noteworthy transaction managed by Jim is the merger of Pioneer Natural Resources into ExxonMobil.

Prior to starting his investment banking career at Salomon Brothers, Jim was a Petroleum Geologist with Norcen Energy Resources Limited in Calgary where he worked in both the Reservoir Development and Exploration groups.

Jim earned his Bachelors of Science (Honors) at the University of Alberta and his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Western Ontario, Ivey School of Business.
