The Petroleum Club of Houston is the consequence of a vision, of a vigorous effort, and of a substantial accomplishment. The accomplishment is the creation of one of the nation’s finest and most distinctive private clubs, towering high above Houston’s commercial avenues.
The Petroleum Club's journey began with a vision shared by Wilbur Ginther, Howard C. Warren, and Harris Underwood in 1946. The Club opened its doors on December 15, 1951, atop the Rice Hotel in downtown Houston.
In 1963, it found a new home in the downtown ExxonMobil building, marking the beginning of an exceptional era. On February 16, 1963, the Club was officially opened with a reception.
In January 2015, the Club moved to its current location at the top of the Total Plaza, 35th floor, 1201 Louisiana Street, in central downtown Houston. This versatile Club continues to appeal internationally and thrive in the expansive Houston community.
